Serve Day

On Saturday, September 19th, Capital Church will be joining Homestretch for Serve Day 2020! There will be three different teams serving in multiple ways to bless this ministry and it's participants. Please see all the different ways you can volunteer below.

LANDSCAPING: The grounds around Homestretch are extensive and in need of tending. It is the first thing their clients see when they come on-site so keeping them manicured is a natural way to express care and respect for them. Tasks include weeding, pruning, mulching, and planting. PAINTING: Homestretch provides housing for each client in the program. Every time a family graduates they turn over the unit for a new family to move into from the shelter. An apartment unit needs to have the walls cleaned and painted. Address: 4349 American Drive, Annandale VA 22003 unit # to be provided after sign-up for privacy of residents. Serve time: 8am - 11am, over 13 yrs. only please.

PLANTING: Homestretch has a little vegetable and herb garden they plant each year for clients to take from as they like. Tasks include turning the soil, mixing in fertilizer, planting new (pre-grown) vegetables and herbs, and making little signs to stake in the soil that label each plant.
